The Rise of Secularism I
Part 1: The Origin of Replacement
In the last decade, we’ve witnessed a great replacement. Not merely a replacement of ideas, values, or even global powers—we’ve witnessed the replacement of God. Few things have plagued the West more than the rise of secularism, and we’re beginning to see the mangled, disfigured face of ideology reveal itself throughout our society. Ideology is what you get when a narcissistic society dismembers age-old religious doctrine with its axe of virtue which is wielded by a self-righteous, self-labeled “intellectual” who believes they’ve been hand selected to, not only understand the complex nuances of mankind, but to enlighten the rest of us while hacking away.
But if you’re going to tear apart a set of guiding principles that have shaped the entire sub-structure of western civilization as we know it, you’ll need to Frankenstein together a man-made monstrosity-of-a-replacement for God—which will end up being even more vile than it sounds. Reality and truth will become subjective as society warps itself into a confused web of envy and resent that strangles everything that we know to be inherently good and devours it.
“[Ideologies] are like religion that’s missing an arm and a leg, but can still hobble along. It provides a certain amount of security and group identity, but it’s warped and twisted and demented and bent, and it’s a parasite on something underlying that’s rich and true.” –Dr. Jordan Peterson, Biblical Series I: Introduction to the Idea of God
In the worldly sense, mankind thinks of itself as the great possessor of intelligence who—as a result—is perfectly capable of not just navigating the world, but creating a set of beliefs (or lack thereof) for everyone else around them as well.
In the religious sense, mankind carries the belief that man was created in the image of God and lives in a world created by that same God. Therefore, man is guided by all biblical teachings contained in The Bible, not merely the book of Genesis. If man holds true the belief that God created the heavens and the earth, man must also commit to a non-selective obedience of all scriptural teachings.
"I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth." –Revelation 3:15-16
As mankind’s worldly intelligence increases, his spirituality decreases—a technologically innovative society renders itself useless, or perhaps worse, if its advancements are put forth to be utilized by Godless men. However, a Godless man is not truly godless—man will simply work to create another god; a warped, twisted, demented god.
This brings us to the rise of Secularism [with a capital ‘S’] in the modern west. Not all hope is lost—for God’s will shall be done.
